The U.S Department of the Interior International Technical Assistance Program transferred a sturdy, cost-effective boat to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur yesterday 06 July 2022 at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center.

Governor Jerry Singson together with Vice Governor Ryan Singson and the rest of the Provincial Officials humbly accepted the technology handed over by Director Kelia Cummins of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Embassy of the United States.

The governor thanked both Director Cummins and Tanggol Kalikasan for the donation. He also promised to provide the engine immediately for the boat to be used as soon as possible.

This is the Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Patrol Boat, considered a better alternative to traditional boats. Despite its slightly higher cost of production, FRP boat is hardier and more resistant to rot, corrosion and harsh marine environments than the wooden counterpart. This is also easier to mass produce and repair, engineered to be disaster-resilient that ensures the safety of fisherfolks.
