Thousands of students, coaches and education officials participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Ilocos Sur Athletic Festival 2023 at Quirino Stadium, Bantay, Ilocos Sur this 10 March 2023.

The student-athletes from 32 participating municipalities of the province were divided into four units and will compete for the 23 sporting events.

Apart from the torch-lighting performed by the athletes of Ilocos Sur who participated in the R1AA and Palarong Pambansa, as a symbol of the formal opening of the athletic festival, a football ceremonial kick off was conducted by Governor Jerry Singson.

DepEd R01 Director Tolentino Aquino and Assistant Director Ronald Castillo served as special guests during the event along with Vice Governor Ryan Singson and the rest of the provincial officials.
