The initiative by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, through collaborative efforts across various offices embodies values of compassion and empowerment for persons with disabilities (PWDs) by extending the first Joint Community Services, a five-day Outreach Program that catered dental checkups, scholarship program awareness, emergency preparedness lectures, and livelihood training to PWDs in pilot municipalities like Burgos, Nagbukel, Lidlidda, Banayoyo, San Emilio, Galimuyod and Salcedo.
This holistic approach underscores the commitment of PGIS to ensure that no one is left behind, aligning with principles of inclusivity and empowerment. By addressing both immediate needs (such as healthcare and education), long-term empowerment through skills training and disaster preparedness, the program seeks to enhance the quality of life and opportunities for PWDs in the province.
Such initiatives are important steps towards building a more inclusive society where every individual, regardless of ability, can thrive and contribute.
