The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur awarded monetary rewards amounting to P50,000.00 each for the 12 fishermen who voluntarily surrendered packs of shabu they found in the territorial waters of San Juan, Sta. Maria and Magsingal, Ilocos Sur.

Governor Jerry Singson, SPM Efren Rafanan, SPM Art Oandasan, PDEA Regional Director Joel Plaza, PDEA Ilocos Sur Chief Noreen Bautista and ISPPO Provincial Director Darnell Dulnuan distributed the reward to the fishermen.

“In honoring our honest and diligent fishermen, we are not just acknowledging their bravery but also reinforcing the importance of community cooperation in safeguarding our future. By choosing to do what is right, they have protected countless lives particularly our children and youth from the dangers of illegal drugs.” Governor Jerry Singson before the awarding of rewards.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency also gave a gift of P5,000.00 per pack of shabu found by the fishermen.
