As part of Candon City’s 22nd Cityhood Anniversary and a culmination of the Tobacco Festival, Senator Imee Marcos together with Governor Jerry Singson, Vice Governor Ryan Singson, 2nd District Representative Kristine Singson Meehan, and 1st District Representative Ronald Singson took part on the Grand Opening of the 8,000 seating capacity Candon City Arena which will also served as convention center expected to bring opportunities for the city to host major national, and even international sporting events, conventions, exhibits, and conferences.
The first and second floors of the said arena will serve as satellite offices for national government agencies such as DOLE, DFA, PRC, and CSC. Moreover, the features of the arena include basketball and volleyball courts on the ground floor, command center and staff house at the second level, and restaurants with an overview of the West Philippine Sea on the third floor.
Also present during the opening ceremony were SPM Mildred Elaydo, SPM Boy Gironella, SPM Gina Cordero, some municipal mayors of the 2nd District, PNP Regional Director PBGen. John Chua, CSC Regional Director Hedy Lardizabal, DOLE Regional Field Office 1 Assistant Regional Director, Honorina Baga, ISPPO Provincial Director, PCOL Marlo Castillo, DOLE-FO Ilocos Sur Provincial Officer, Charity Ubilas.
