The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur through the Provincial Social Development Office conducted the Provincial Women’s Month Celebration at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center this 27 March 2023.

With the theme “WE Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”, the celebration underscored the empowerment of women as an active contributors and claimholders of development. An opportunity for individuals and organizations to unite and work towards creating a more just and equal society for all.

The PGIS women employees were present together with the representatives from different schools and some PWD women leaders of the province in support of the said celebration.

Juana Got Talent 2023 became the highlight of the event wherein 17 contenders from the different departments competed.

As a result, winners for the competition were as follows:

Champion: Provincial Accounting Office

1st Runner-Up: Provincial Agriculture Office

2nd Runner-Up: Provincial Engineering Office.

Governor Jerry Singson was represented by SPM Gina Cordero along with other SPM’s, Midred Elaydo that served as the Keynote Speaker, Benjamin Maggay, Third Ranches, Art Oandasan and Janina Joyce Tabios.

The observance of Women’s Month in the Philippines began in 1988 by virtue of Proclamation No. 224 proclaiming the first week of March as Women’s Week. This was later expanded to the entire month to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality.
