The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur through the strong leadership of Governor Jerry Singson being the host of the Batang Pinoy National Championships 2022 raised the bar and formally opened the prestigious event at the Quirino Stadium, Bantay Ilocos Sur this 17 December 2022.

Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio both boxers and products of the PSC’s grassroots program together with Filipino-Japanese Kiyomi Watanabe of judo, Crisamuel Delfin and Mary Allin Aldeguer of arnis and our very own athletes of Ilocos Sur Efraim Iñigo, bronze medalist 2019 Olympic Sea Games & Wrency Abad, 2019 Batang Pinoy gold medalist 2019 attended the opening ceremony.

Governor Jerry Singson, Mr. Emmanuel “Noli” Eala, Vice Governor Ryan Singson, Vigan City Mayor Jose “Bonito” Singson, other officials of national sports associations, SPM’s and some Mayors witnessed the ceremony.

About 6,000 participants from the 138 local government units (LGUs) are set to compete in nine face-to-face sports archery, athletics, badminton, chess, cycling, table tennis, swimming, weightlifting, and obstacle cours(demonstration).

This year’s Batang Pinoy National Championship became possible through the partnership of Philippine Sports Commission, Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, PAGCOR, Department of Interior and Local Government co-presented by MILO Philippines, Pocari Sweat, Universal Robina Corporation, Coca-Cola Beverages, Globe Telecom, and Beautéderm.
