The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 1 brought for the first time in Ilocos Sur the “KADIWA” Retail Selling. This one day program enabled the residents to have access to quality, safe, and affordable agri-fishery products.

Governor Jerry Singson through the Office of the Provincial Agriculture requested to the DA Region1 for the conduct of the KADIWA Retail Selling activity in the province.

During a short program the Governor announced that KADIWA should be established in every barangay to help consumers buy basic necessities like food products at lower prices compared to those being sold in regular markets and stores.

The KADIWA Retail Selling allowed the producers to earn bigger from directly selling their produce instead of using trader-intermediaries. It reduces marketing expenses, thus making the fresh and quality products more affordable for consumers.

This is marketing initiative of DA, implemented through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance (AMAS), which seeks to empower the farming community by providing a direct and effective farm-to-consumer food supply chain.

Along with Governor Jerry Singson were Ms. Corazon G. Valdez, Market Specialist III, Section Chief MDS-AMAD, Atty Jennilyn M. Dawayan, CESO IV, OIC-Regional Executive Director and SPM Christopher Baterina.
